About Westcountry Anime

So who are we anyway? What's our purpose? Why does alcohol not have much of an effect on a_c_e? :P

The whole idea for Westcountry Anime came about after I googled for anime clubs in the South West, only to find that there was absolutely nothing between Land's End and Bath. So I did the only logical thing that came to mind - set up a crappy phpBB board!

Around the same time I returned to the Neo Magazine forum after a lengthy absence. There I discovered that there were a few users that lived around the Plymouth area. So, after a few nights out down The Cooperage, much alcohol and plenty of Air Guitar action (since we can get away with it there), myself, Chris (eva_fan) and Andrew (a_c_e) became fairly well acquainted. Eventually we came back round to the idea of an anime club for Plymouth, if not South Devon, words were spoken, lines of HTML were written, and now you have Westcountry Anime in its current form, going strong for over 9000 6 months now.

So what are we doing here? To watch some damn good anime of course! And save people the need to travel to Bath every other weekend to join the lads at Wessex Anime.

The current format is to a two-and-a-half meeting, taking place on alternate thursdays, taking into account weekend workers and the general busy times of Mutley Plain. Series are shown in blocks of two episodes, or in the case of an OVA, the entire OVA is shown during the evening. Also there will be the usual chitter chatter and other crazy funstuffs that people can bring if it's of interest or amusement.

So there you have it, our brief history and plans for the future. If you are at all interested, then please by all means come along if only to see if it is relevant to your interests (MOAR!). And if you know anyone else that may be interested, please spread the word :)

Cheers
